First series of questions. How did Ness's dad know so early about the crash? Where was Ness's dad at that time? Since when did he deposit insane amounts of money into Ness's account and where did it all come from? What does Ness's dad do for a living?

After finding Picky at the summit of the hillside, Ness and the group meet Buzz Buzz - a talking fly. It explains that it had come from ten years into the future to prevent a disasterous event from happening. An evil being named Gigyas had taken over the world, Buzz Buzz explained, and that Buzz Buzz had traveled through time and space to warn Ness in advance. It also tells Ness about an Apple of Enlightment's prediction that three boys and one girl would be the chosen ones.

Next questions. Where did Buzz Buzz come from? How had Gigyas taken over the world? What had happened to Ness and his friends ten years into the future? Did Ness and his friends even exist? Who or what was the Apple of Enlightenment? An apple? How had Buzz Buzz traveled through space and time?

Ness, Buzz Buzz, Pokey, and Picky take the path home when they are suddenly confronted by a Starman Jr. Starman Jr. says a few lines about putting a stop to Buzz Buzz foiling Gigyas plans and then they battle. After destroying Starman Jr. Buzz Buzz tells Ness that Gigyas had the power to control people, animals, and inanimate objects.
